It's Snowing in NH!

The snow is falling hard today. We are all stuck at home which gives me ample time to update the blog. One of the reasons I have been reluctant to update is because it's so hard to put into simple words what we discuss with the doctors. Sammy recovered from her surgery with flying colors. She is pain free and keeping a very active social calendar. Sadly we had to cancel our trip to NJ because of an anticipated snow storm. We heard that Jody Joseph and the Average Joes put on a great show. Let's hope the funds raised for pediatric cancer research help find the cure for many of the cancers out there.

Sammy and Becca were in a play last week and they did a GREAT job. Becca played the role of Christina Robin and Sammy was cast as Rabbit. After the holidays, Becca will resume cello lessons and Sammy will continue with private dance lessons at the NH School of Ballet.

Sammy wears Miss Walker for dance lessons and we just learned that Miss Walker has returned from England with her new cover, ready for pick up tomorrow! We can't wait to see how she looks. THANK YOU Next Step O & P and Dorset Prosthetics.

Coming up later this week is the big Hannah Montana concert (thank you friends at Bowditch and Dewey) and a meet and greet with the popstar princess (thank you Michele). Then we're off to Florida to visit Grammy and Bubba and play at Disney for a couple of days.

There are a number of reasons why Sammy has not been started on new meds yet. One of the main reasons is because Sammy feels so great. The doctors don't want to jeopardize Sammy's well being with the toxic side effects from medication that may not even help prevent future metastatic disease. In addition, Sammy doesn't have any tumors right now so the doctors are reluctant to start medication if not proven necessary. As I said, it's all so hard to explain. There is limited research on the treatment of Osteosarcoma and there are not many sarcoma specialists out there. Sammy's oncologist is one of those rare specialists. He meets with the others and, together, they evaluate their cases. Sammy is one of those cases and we are confident that her case is being competently reviewed.

So for now we take it scan by scan and try to have as much fun as we can in between. So many friends and family members continue to support us through this journey and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your ongoing patience and compassion help us get through each day.

Some new photos are posted below. I still have to get a scanner or something so I can post the swimming with the dolphin photos. I'll get to it (right...)

Shari and David

Dancing on the cruise. Sammy danced every night in that high heel shoe!

We call Sammy and Buddy the "Itty Bitty Twins"
