Sorry for the delay in updating. There was a computer glitch. I apologize for worrying people!
Samantha returned home on Wednesday. By Thursday night she was going out to eat, attending Becca's concert, and then going out for ice cream. She was out later than most kids her age. Today Sammy was off to school to resume her studies ;) When the girls in Sammy's class heard she was coming in, they all cheered and hugged.
So basically, the thoracotomy was just a little bump in the road and a slight inconvenience for the family. We are working with Sammy's oncologist and hope to soon determine how to proceed with treatment.
Good news and bad news:
The bad news is that Jody Joseph and the Average Joe's 12/15 concert is sold out. I hope people who wanted to attend were able to get tickets.
The good news is that there is another fundraiser for childhood cancer research. A Bow High School senior, Anne Barleon, is holding a swim-a-thon this Sunday, 12/9, at the Racquet Club of Concord, 10 Garvins Falls Rd., Concord. It will run from 10-12. Anne's senior project is to raise money for research. In addition, she has been volunteering some time throughout the semester to take Sammy to the library, help with homework, and even carve pumpkins with the girls. She's a wonderful young woman who has become a good friend. For more information about the swim-a-thon, you can contact Anne at AHBarleon@aol.com.
One of the main reasons Sammy is doing so well is because of the ongoing support you continue to give us. THANK YOU so much for all of the cards, meals, and well wishes.
