The Latest

Hi. Sammy is back from Dartmouth, having stayed 3 nights for chemotherapy. Boy, is that medicine nasty. Sammy is pretty wiped out and is laying low in bed, sleeping and, at times, watching some TV. While at Dartmouth, we met some great people. We have inspirational, bizarre and truly funny stories to share ... all at a later date. Rebecca was in her element at the hospital. She enjoyed observing various medical procedures. She also entertained some of the children on the Pediatrics Unit and made a new friend, Alyssa.

We are all overwhelmed by the kindness so many have showered on us. In the last 2 weeks, we have made some friends that will last a lifetime. Your love, support, cards, drawings, cooking, wine, hugs, play dates, gifts for the girls, "hoteling" of some of our pets (that would be Shari's parents).. you have no idea how much it is all appreciated.

Sammy is still a bit out of sorts and really isn't up to visitors quite yet. As soon as she is, believe me, we will let you know. The next scheduled inpatient admission to Dartmouth for chemo is not until 8/11... it all depends on how Sammy's body is responding to the medication... We expect to be out and about way before 8/11 ... maybe even at Camp Shaker...

Thank you again, everyone, for everything. All we need is some advice for an easy way to get Sammy to want to take her medicine at home. Any ideas???!!!

Hi Shari, David Sammy and Rebecca,

What a wonderful website to share with family and friends. I think of you often and hope and pray that all goes well. It is a lot for a little girl to go through, but you all sound so upbeat and positive and that will only help. My prayers are with you.

Dear Sammy and Becca,
I take karate with your Dad and I just heard your news tonight. I am so glad to be able to see the wonderful pictures and read about your progress and treatment. I have heard so much about you from your Dad. I just know that your Mom and Dad have never been more proud of you both. Keep up the good work.
