SHE'S BACK!! :)

Today Sammy returned home from Dartmouth after spending 5 nights there! Staying at the hospital can be fun for a few reasons:

first, you get to order what you want for every meal off of a menu;
second, your relationship with your parents changes from "parent/child" to "roommate;"
third, you get to play "Hospital Bingo" and sometimes win a prize!

Those are the top 3 reasons. The truth is, however, there's NO place like home. We are so glad to be home. Yes, we must pack our bags to go back to the hospital on Friday but, hopefully, the next stay will not be as long.

Sammy has a new wheelchair at home that she likes to use because her leg still hurts. It's not an awsome, electric, pink wheelchair or anything, but it does what it needs to do and Sammy gets around without anyone having to push her. In a couple of months, Sammy will have surgery on her leg to get rid of the tumor and make her pain go away. The surgery will be done at a hospital in Boston. After surgery and when Sammy is strong enough, Sammy will go back to Dartmouth to finish all the medicine, i.e., chemotherapy, that her doctor has to give her. That will be for approximately 5 months.

So, for those of you from Bow Elementary School that check this website, here's a heads up: Sammy will miss a lot of school this year but, when she's absent, her mom, dad, sister, grammy and tutor, will teach her what she needs to know at home. She'll be absent quite a bit from school, but expects to have PERFECT attendance when she starts third grade.

Sammy loves all the cards and emails. Keep it up!!!!

Thank you all, again, for the many cards, calls, meals, gifts, cases of wine (that's you, Krista), and prayers. Your support keeps us going!!!
