Hello,
The Dana Farber Plan is still sort of in flux. Samantha will have some testing at Dana Farber tomorrow, including a lung CT. If she is still "No Evidence of Disease" (NED) status, she will probably start a new chemotherapy the following day. The purpose of the chemo would be to hopefully prevent any future growth in the lungs. The chemo should not have any nasty side effects like some of the other chemos she has had. Also, she will have it as an outpatient at the Jimmy Fund Clinic and her blood cell counts are not expected to drastically drop. Our hope is that Sammy will only miss a couple of days of school. If something is seen on tomorrow's scans, Samantha might qualify for a clinical trial or two... we would have to discuss the options with Samantha's oncologist. That would be an entirely new blog update.
Sammy's spirits are good. She doesn't like to discuss any details of her treatment. She leaves it up to Shari and David to worry about :)
Thanks for checking in and we'll keep you posted.
