Everything around here has been going well since our last update. Sammy and Miss Walker are getting to know each other. Sammy even WALKED down the school hallway last week without any crutch!
We had a great week during school vacation, traveling to Florida to spend time with Grammy, Bubba, Auntie Laurie, Uncle Brian, and the cousins. BIG mistake going to Disney on Christmas Day. We thought the park would be empty but it is one of the busiest days of the year! Our trip to Orlando was lots of fun, though. We stayed at the Nickelodeon Suites Hotel which the girls LOVED. In Sun City Center the girls sang karaoke, rode around in the golf cart, swam in the pool, and just had fun.
Sammy's oncologist has come up with a plan ... a new med ... to start probably next week. We are optimistic that the side effects will not disrupt Sammy's quality of life. We expect her to continue attending school with growing hair. As we've said, Osteosarcoma is a really tricky cancer. There just isn't that much research out there. We don't want Sammy to have to endure more lung metastases and we are hoping that the new med will help us reach that goal.
Of course we will keep you posted as we have a better understanding of what the treatment plan will look like.
