This has been a great week for Samantha. She made it to both Religious School and Bow Elementary School. She has gone from nervously wearing a wig to parading around bald and proud. The kids at Bow Elementary School have been so wonderful. Many of them participated in the "press conference" held on the playground this week. If you can picture it... Rebecca frantically wheeled Sammy around the playground as a mob of 7 year olds ran after Sammy in her chair. Finally, Becca parked the chair and Sammy fielded questions asked by her peers. Sammy is very comfortable answering questions so, please, don't hesitate to ask.
A HUGE thank you goes out to Rebecca for helping Sammy back to school this week. Becca agreed to miss her day of classes so that she could assist Sammy in Sammy's classroom.
This week also included a trip to the mall and some apple picking. Tonight, assuming all goes as planned, we plan to head off to NYC to have some fun before chemo starts on Monday.
So what happened in Boston? Well, we are still awaiting final word from the surgeon with regard to a date. Sammy is going to have Repiphysis surgery. Basically, that's an internal prosthetic that the doctor will be able to expand as Sammy grows. Sammy is looking forward to getting rid of the bone tumor because it really hurts and restricts what she can wear (she hasn't worn jeans in months!!!). However, she was devastated to learn that with this limb salvage surgery, she will not be able to competitively dance or play any contact sport. Also, chemo isn't over yet... It will also take a long time, maybe 6 months, for Sammy to learn how to walk. With time, Samantha has begun to realize that the most important thing is to beat the cancer. There are many wonderful things life has to offer and she will be exposed to all of them.
Many, many thanks to those who decorated our yard. The house looks beautiful!
Hope to see you all soon!

P.S. Rebecca FINALLY has an email address. it is: rebecca-30@comcast.net.
