She's Home!!!!!

FINALLY, Samantha came home today (with her hostage, Shari, in tow). Sammy's spirits are great. The medical professionals say the wound on the incision looks good, though the lay person might think it could look better... Chemo is scheduled for a week from tomorrow, assuming the wound looks ok at that time (the problem is that the chemo knocks out all the white blood cells, which a body needs to fight infection. So there is a balancing act going on here. We just take it day by day).

Last week, Sammy was thrilled to receive an email from the famous one-legged dancer, Heather Mills. We suspect that many of you have emailed Heather and thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Sammy has been able to watch some of "Dancing With the Stars," and is delighted to see that an amputee can REALLY dance and can REALLY wear high heels. Heather even mentioned that she'd like to dance with Sammy when Sammy feels better. For those of you who follow aka trivia (the definition of "aka" is "above knee amputation), Sarah Reinersten, the first above knee amputee to finish the Ironman competition, recently posted on Sammy's blog. Sammy had just read a chapter in a book that Sarah authored at the age of 12, so Sammy couldn't believe that Sarah, now gorgeous and all grown up, took the time to wish Sammy well. Sarah also wears high heels. That's really what it's all about. :) Thanks to all of you who emailed Sarah, too.

We cannot thank you enough for all of the food you have been delivering and for the cards you send to Sammy and Becca. Without your support, we would surely go crazy.

We will keep you posted!

Shari and David

So glad you're home!

I think of you often and pray that things get better with each passing day.

Sorry you're back in the chemo schedule, Justine is as well and it's been rough on her.

I hope you all can keep your spirits up, you are all very strong people - keep your eye on "the prize"!

My best to you.

We are so happy to hear you are feeling better and are back at home. Wow! an e-mail from Heather Mills - in a few more years it will be Dancing with the Stars starring Sammy Rotman.

Hi Guys!

So glad to hear you are home...we'll be back up at DHMC next Friday, too, for Avery's chemo, mediport surgery and plastic surgery follow up. Maybe we can at least see each other for real, instead of email! Maybe Shari and Becky can actually talk! I know, I know, wishful thinking...we're glad to hear that things are looking a little better...

Love and Light,
Becky, Jim, Avery, Delaney and Kadie

We are thrilled that you are all home!! Also wonderful to hear about your very special messages, Sammy. We hope everyone who views this blog will keep Heather Mills dancing on the show for awhile -- so easy to make those voting phone calls, as I have found out! Redial works like a charm.

We hope to catch you in on our dinner/dessert delivery date next week. Please let us know if you have any special requests!

xoxo Jack, Jean and John

So glad to know you are home sammy!! Tyler Jack Sydney Bill and I are thinking about you all the time. I am sooooo impressed that Heather Mills is your new pen pal. She is amazingly gorgeous and a fabulous dancer (and looks great in the high heels, may I add.) I can't wait to see you on the same show.!! When you are feeling up to it you are welcome to go back to NYC and have a long stay at Chez Demchak. Paint the town any color you want. We love you.
