Sammy is doing well. Her pain is pretty well under control, but, then again, she hasn't gotten out of bed yet... Physical therapy should be here this morning to evaluate Sammy's needs. The reality is that a thoracotomy is a miserable surgery and it will take some time before Sammy is feeling well enough to go out and about. But Sammy's spirits are good and she is eager to get home.
The Plan: Again, always subject to change... After a follow up appointment with the surgeon next week, a date will be determined for the thoracotomy on the right lung. It should happen within the next few weeks. Shortly thereafter, Samantha will participatae in a clinical trial offered through Dana Farber. All medication should be able to given as an outpatient. We are looking forward to a great summer with a minimal amount of time spent in the hospital.
So that's the plan FOR NOW.
Thanks for checking in.
