Sammy saw her surgeon today who says Sammy looks great and is ready to have the right lung operated on this Friday. The upcoming surgery will be the same procedure as before. We are so relieved that Sammy's rib cage will not have to be cracked (sometimes the surgeons have to do this; it sounds so awful). Another estimated 5 night stay at Boston Children's. Sammy knows the surgery has to be done but she is not happy about it. We are trying our best to stay busy and just get it over with ASAP.
Speaking of keeping busy, Sammy enjoyed yet another almost full day at Shaker Road day camp this week. She even went swimming in the pool. It was the first time she has gone swimming since her leg amputation and I (Shari) missed it, because I actually drove off in the minivan to run some errands. Grrrrrr!!! But, let me tell you, it was so great to drive off, knowing that Sammy feels well and is doing just fine.
Becca is also keeping busy. She just finished track camp with a regional meet today in the 90+ degree weather (got there at 9 AM. Left at 2 PM). Becca had a great meet and appears to have found a sport that she really likes. We are so proud of her.
Sammy has some standard pre-op testing at Boston Children's tomorrow and then an appointment at the Jimmy Fund Clinic (Dana Farber). We'll head home after the appointments and then come back down again on Friday for surgery (1 PM).
