A Great Week

This last week was very busy. The girls had their last day of school on Monday. Rebecca started track camp and Sammy had her first physical therapy visit at HealthSouth. Best of all, however, was getting started at Shaker Road day camp. Sammy visited there yesterday and attended camp today for almost a full day! She would have stayed longer but Shari was getting bored in the minivan (where she tried to keep busy in the Shaker Road parking lot -- just in case).

On a more somber note, Sam the Cat will return to the shelter tomorrow. After two months in our home, he finally stopped hiding under the bed all of the time. Yesterday, as we "snuggled" with him, we were able for the first time to get a good look at him from head to toe. There were a few concerns so we took him to our vet who declared him to be "a plague" and potentially hazardous (infectious) to our other pets. Not the type of thing that can be cured with a course of antibiotics. So the shelter is going to see what they can do for him. They are a "no kill" facility, so they will try everything possible to get him back on his three feet (which, by the way, work great. You should see Sam the Cat chase Mixer the Cat around the house). Should the shelter "cure" Sam, he'll come back home. Otherwise, they will find him a home without other pets.

Next week will be a drag. Sammy has medical appointments in Boston on Tuesday and Wednesday. Friday afternoon is the surgery on her right lung. Given how well Sammy recovered from the first surgery, we are hopeful that the next recovery will be manageable as well. We will know more of the details after we meet with the surgeon on Tuesday.

We always get through chemo and surgeries when we have something great to look forward to. Thanks to the generosity of so many of you, we dipped into "The Sammy Rotman Fund" and purchased 4 tickets to the Rascal Flatts concert next month in CT. The girls LOVE the Rascal Flatts and Sammy is the only Rotman family member who hasn't seen the band perform live. So, THANK YOU everyone. The concert will be a great treat and the girls can't wait.

That's about it for now. We hope everyone is enjoying their summer. We will keep you posted.

Shari and David

So great to know that Sammy is out and about so much. You go girl!! Sammy - you are a very strong and amazing girl. And your sister Becca has been tremendous this past year too.

Sorry to hear about Sam the Cat - but sounds like your plan is the best thing for him and all concerned.

Thrilled that the Sammy Rotman Fund is still at work, covering tickets for Rascal Flatts! For everyone who has contributed to the fund, thank you from the bottom of my heart! For those of you who have not yet had the chance to, the fund is still open and accepting donations. We would love to continue to support events and activities that bring joy and laughter to such a wonderful family. Please email me at jjbow2000@aol.com for more information on how to donate.

Hoping everyone enjoys summer and really stops to smell the roses.

xoxo The Rich family

Sounds like you're doing great Sammy! Happy to hear it. With all the fun activities you and Becca have this summer, I'm sure you'll have lots of fun.

So sorry about Sam the cat. Better safe than sorry, although it must have been a hard decision.

Have fun at the concert everyone. --love, the moores

Hey Sammy,
I think the Rascal Fats should go on a diet. What kind of Rascals are they anyway? I think I heard of them, but I am not sure. Do they play mostly Beethoven and Tchaikovsky music? If you can, maybe you can post some of their more famous songs on your log so that those of us who are real hip can enjoy them too.
Lotsa love and lotsamore love,
Bubba

Hello Sammy,
I am Avery Forrestall's Aunt and I wanted to write and tell you how great I think you and your family are. Avery thinks you are pretty cool too. I check your site as often as I check my nephews(everyday). I was sorry to hear about your cat. I'm sure it was a hard decision(a good one though). I think it is awesome you get to see Rascal Flatts--they are my favorite. I hope you enjoy your summer. We just wanted you to know that our family was thinking of you. Lisa and Kevin Laflamme
