We Love Holiday Weekends

We had a great long weekend. Auntie Laurie was here for a few days and we loved spending time with her. Sammy hasn't been feeling that well lately and hasn't felt like receiving visits from too many people. Even though Sammy only sees Auntie a few times a year, however, the bond is so special that Sammy wanted Auntie around despite all of the fatigue and various aches and pains.

The trip to the Hopkinton State Fair was a success! I stayed home while David took the girls to the fair with our friends from MA. The girls had a great time and I enjoyed some peace and quiet at home. David and Sammy LOVE to have fun. They love to play. They are very similar that way. I do not love to have fun. I am more of a worrier and a talker. One of the main reasons David and I have weathered this storm is because we recognize our strengths and weaknesses. We compliment each other. I love David because he was genuinely enthusiastic and excited about taking the girls to the fair. I never could have pulled it off. I get genuinely excited (so to speak) when someone wants to discuss "heavy" subjects in the middle of the night. I like to overthink things that should not be overthought, analyze dreams, etc...

Becca disappeared for 8 hours yesterday at a friend's pool party. Sammy, Auntie Laurie and I went to the mall. Despite feeling tired and dizzy, Sammy still insists on going out every day. No shopping was done, but lunch was consumed and a good time had by all.

It is highly unlikely that Sammy will be at school this week. She is doing some work at home when she feels up to it. I am taking her to Dana Farber mid-week to discuss a few things: breakthrough headaches, dizziness, skin tenderness... Sammy's treatment team at Dana Farber is so wonderful. They call every day to check in. In addition to that, the VNA comes to our home twice/week. A trip down to Boston is probably not necessary but it makes us feel better.

We successfully administered oxygen to Bubba yesterday. Perked him right up ;) You're a great sport, Bubba!!!

Thank you so much for the emails, meals, prayers and well wishes. We are getting through this day by day.

Shari and David

How come Bubba got to try the oxygen? I wanted to! You know that you have to pay for that on the streets in Vegas Bubba, they call it an oxygen bar!

Hi all,
I am glad to hear you had a fun long weekend, we did as well with 4-wheeling, swimming and lot of food. Sammy is a tremendous young lady, regardless of how she is feeling her spirit picks her up and takes her out and about for some fun. I love you Sammy and I hope the aches and dizziness go away soon. Hang in there and I hope you get back to school to see your friends. Take it easy and we love and miss you all.

Dear Sammy, Thinking of you every day and glad to hear that you enjoyed the Hopkinton State Fair!! I used to live right down the street from the fair, but now we are city folks living in Concord:)

Hi Sammy,

Well, we're finally home from camp. Boy, were we busy after camp. We found TONS of people's towels and other stuff, but so far it looks like you were one of the best at not losing things at camp!!

We've just started looking through all the pictures that were taken at camp this summer so Jamie and I can put together the yearbook and slideshow. Believe it or not there are more than 10,000 pictures!!! Yikes!!

I'm glad to find someone else who loves chicken caesar salads too. But I've never had one for breakfast. Sounds really delish. I'll have to try it.
I thought of you today because I was unpacking the leftover canteen and found one last box of Snickers. I'll have to share them with you.

Take care and keep smiling,
Marcy and Ken (he's a terrible typist so he asked me to type for him and say hi!!)

Sammy -- We're so glad that you also got to go to Canobie Lake and then to the Hopkinton Fair too! Did you ride the swings there too? We would ride the swings, if our stomachs didn't mind going round and round in circles. We miss you!
